Pacific Nanotechnology Training Classes

The Pacific Nanotechnology Training Classes are given quarterly in the Santa Clara, CA office. The course objectives are to provide PNI customers with training for proficient operation of PNI products. Each course is taught by a senior instructor and includes hands on operation of the PNI SPM products. Included with each course is a manual containing all information presented in each of the classes. At the end of each class a certificate of accomplishment is awarded.

The PNI training program include intensive classroom work (Figure 1) as well as hands-on training with the atomic force microscopes (Figure 2).

Basic AFM Training

Tuesday/Wednesday

This course covers the fundamental principles, operation, and applications of the Atomic Force Microscope. In the morning, formal classroom training will cover the fundamental principles and applications of AFM. In the afternoon, there is a hands on session that covers the operation of the PNI atomic force microscopes. This class serves as an introduction to AFM and is meant for new users of PNI atomic force microscopes. This class is recommended for PNI customers that are new users of the microscopes and want to learn the microscope's basic operation.

Advanced AFM Training

Thursday/Friday Morning

The topics selected for this course may include LPM Software, Environmental Cell Operation, or Imaging Modes. The specific topics that will be taught will be selected based on requirements from students attending the course. This course is intended for AFM operators that already know how to run the microscope and require a deeper understanding.

Students are responsible for transportation to and from the class as well as all hotel accommodations. All lunches are provided by PNI Tuesday - Friday. If necessary, PNI can recommend hotel accommodations. Also, when required, PNI staff may be able to transport students to and from a local hotel.
